At the end of the 19th century, with the end of the religious
veil suicide became a subject of scientific research by sociologist.
In sociology, there are two ways of analysing the suicidal
act:
The "individualist" approach,
best represented by Max Weber. The German sociologist takes
a bottom-top approach to analysing suicides. Weber made conlusions
on the social act of suicide by studying individual behaviours.
The "globalist" or "holistic"
method. In this approach, the sociologist places
himslef at the social level to explain individual behaviours.
Emile Durkheim in his book Le Suicide uses
this method to distinguish for instance 5 different categories
of suicide.
With their film, "The Suicide and its Fasticious Consequences",
Damien and Ben go beyond classical pedagogy to address an
issue which affects young people directly.
In anycase, apparently they made the film so that they wouldn't
